Are your readers aware that unelected regional assemblies have been set up?
The regional assembly is part of the EU plan to break up national borders, and in this case is being used to override local local planning issues. In addition, the EU is going ahead implementing the rejected constitution bit by bit.
Perhaps we ought to cut down on the wallowing in nostalgia about the war and concentrate on the new dangers that face us?
