ONCE the novelty of getting out of the EU wears off, and Britain has spent the membership money on building new schools, new hospitals and has given the pensioners a generous bonus, what then, Tony Eaves?

I would imagine a Britain outside the EU, will be reminiscent of that old British film Passport to Pimlico. Britain would probably kiss goodbye to her present fourth largest economy, go cap in hand to the IMF and probably beg the EU to let us back in again.

Surely, if Britain could not influence and fight her corner inside the EU, an independent Britain will be even weaker against the rest of the global economic giants? One only has to look at the recent news headlines over Rover cars, Tiny Computers and Worcester Porcelain to see what sort of future awaits an independent Britain.
