PRIDE in Worcestershire can be an elusive concept. We have, over the past few weeks, attempted to highlight some of the individuals you have recommended to us as embodying the idea.

From community workers to foster parents, those who care for the environment or the elderly, we have done our best to tell their stories.

But, of course, pride in Worcestershire is not confined to individuals.

We have seen, over the past fortnight, the city of Worcester dust itself down and turn on its best face for the dual treats of the Worcester and Three Choirs festivals.

Worcester Festival is still going strong and will entertain and delight us for a few weeks yet. It is due to end with a bang on Monday, August 29.

The Three Choirs Festival has been packing in the crowds for the past fortnight with some of the best music of its kind to be had anywhere in the world.

It is also pleasing to see so many visitors from around the country enjoying some of the best locations Worcester has to offer - let's hope they come back to visit now they have had a taste.

The performances in Worcester Cathedral have been of the highest quality and have shown off one of the city's greatest assets in its best light.

The festival moves on to Hereford next year, and this year's experience has left us feeling there is plenty to be proud of in Worcestershire.

Hereford has a lot to live up to.
