IF you go down to the woods today you're sure to find a surprise.

Well, maybe not the woods, but A Teddy Bear's Picnic is to be held at in Worcester's Gheluvelt Park, Barbourne, in aid of St Richard's Hospice.

At the family event there will be stalls, an outdoor paddling pool and play areas. The charity's community fund-raiser, Alison Weston, said: "This will be a great way to have fun picnic and raise funds for St Richard's as well.

"Lots of people will be looking for something interesting to do during the summer school holidays and this is the perfect event for the whole family plus enjoying a local city park."

The event takes place on Wednesday, with the picnic between noon and 2pm. St Richard's campaigners are working to raise the remaining £400,000 needed to build the new, state-of-the-art hospice near County Hall, Worcester. The charity cares for adults suffering from cancer and other life-threatening illnesses.
