ROCK guitarist and former Genesis member Steve Hackett will be showing off his musical talents in Worcester next week with a visit to the city.

Steve joined the band Genesis in 1970, becoming an integral part of the line-up and, within a couple of years, they were on the way to becoming one of the best-loved bands of the decade.

His distinctive playing contributed heavily to their early success and developed and elegance and sophistication that his since become his trademark.

Steve then went solo in 1975 with his first album Voyage of the Acolyte and has gone on to release a further 15 LPs.

One of his solo hits was 1983's Cell 151 and in 1986 he formed GTR with Yes guitarist Steve Howe, producing a top 10 US single and platinum-selling album.

He has continued to diversify his music with solo output and collaborative projects throughout his career, his reputation resting on sheer talent after three successful decades in contemporary rock.

Steve will be playing Worcester's Huntingdon Hall at 8pm on Tuesday, April 5. Tickets are £17.50 and available from the box office on 01905 611427.
