PROFESSIONAL skaters and bikers who turned up to mark the official opening of a £500,000 Worcester skate park had their wheels firmly on the ground after rain stopped their display.
But despite the wet ramps being too dangerous to use, the event on Saturday was no wash-out, with about 200 people turning up to enjoy the fun.
Phil Weston, administrative manager of the Perdiswell Young People's Leisure Centre in Droitwich Road, where the skate park is built, said: "There were people dancing around and everyone enjoyed themselves," he said.
The official opening of the park - which has been in use for 12 months and includes bowls, ramps, spines and transitions - had already been delayed since January.
Now in-line skaters, skateboarders and BMX-ers have been invited back on Saturday, August 27, for an afternoon of competitions.
Final registration is at 12.30pm and the events, which are open to everyone, start at 1pm.
