A HARD House DJ competition is gearing up for its final round at Worcester's Caesar's Nightclub.

Three DJs beat of stiff competition from 12 other contestants when the first round of the event took place a fortnight ago.

Now it will be all hands to the record decks for DJs Jamie Morag, Cheeko and Ziggy when the big spin-off is held next Friday.

The winner will then play a warm up section for top DJ Charlotte Birch on Friday, December 3.

The first round proved to be such a hit that a special afternoon for up-and-coming DJs could take place at the nightclub once a month.

The event has been organised by Jay, the son of the venue's owner Jacqui.

Jay says the idea of the event is to give up and coming DJs the chance to take part in a professional event.

"One lad in the first round was 17-years-old and lacked a bit of experience otherwise he would have got through to the final - but he will get there," says Jacqui.

"Jay said he's going to do one of these open mike nights on a Sunday once a month, then DJs can use the equipment and they can come down and mix for half an hour, or an hour, in front of people to give them a bit of a start.

"Jay says there are so many kids out there who are so good but they just need the experience."

The competition is being judged by DJs Neil Thomas (Garlands), DJ Sam Hudson (Nukleuz), DJ Moggs (Pulse) and J Wood (Pulse).

The DJ equipment, a 10K rig, has been provided and it consists of two turntables and a CD mixer unit.

"All of the DJs that took part in the first round were absolutely superb," says Jacqui.

"It was difficult for the judges to choose but they had to choose three.

"They couldn't decide on who to choose for the third place between Jamie and Jason Knight, so they had a play off - that's why the competition went on a bit longer.

"The two DJs played back to back and the judges decided.

"Jason was brilliant as well."

As well as warming up the set for Charlotte, the winner will also bag £150 in cash.

The second prize will be £50, and the third prize will be £20.

Garlands

All three will receive a bottle of bubbly.

Revellers will also enjoy music from the club's resident DJs and a guest DJ from Garlands of Liverpool, Neil Thomas.

The finals night, at the Caesar's Nightclub, at Westside, Hylton Road, Worcester, runs from 9pm to 2am. Entrance is £3 before 10pm and £4 after 10pm.

A date for the Sunday afternoon DJing session once a month is yet to be announced.
