THE sounds of Black Country comedy and music will be heading to Worcester this month as the city's Huntingdon Hall plays host to a couple of big-name acts.

The cream of Black Country entertainment will be appearing at the venue on Friday, September 17, for A Black Country Night Out, while Britain's most exciting jazz clarinettist Pete Allen takes to the stage on Saturday, September 18.

Tommy Mundon, Aynuk and Ayli, Dandy, Giggety and special guest ''The Duchess of Dudley'' - Lizzie Wiggins, will have audiences on the edge of their seats with laughter in a two-hour show full of song and surprise in Friday's show.

Tommy Mundon is one of the Midlands' favourites and is famous for his variety shows, comedy plays and sketches, as well as his stand-up comedy.

Husband and wife Alan and Glynis - who started out performing in the Midlands' folk clubs as Dandy before touring the nation - will be serving up a mix of warm-hearted observational comedy and song.

And the authentic Black Country Band will be mixing up the sounds from the region with some entertaining and authentic local anecdotes.

Star guest Lizzie Wiggins - who has been branded a "Les Dawson in the making" and has performed with Ken Dodd and Danny La Rue - is also joining the cast for the performance.

Meanwhile, famed jazz clarinettist Pete Allen will play tribute to many of the legends of jazz, including Louis Armstrong, Sidney Bechet and Fats Waller, the following evening.

He will be appearing with his seven-piece international all-star jazz showband for an evening of traditional, New Orleans and Dixieland music.

The Pete Allen Band was formed in October 1978, having made 30 appearances for Pebble Mill at One on BBC Television.

In addition, the band has appeared on many regional television shows - including a six-week series for HTV - and has played at prestigious jazz festivals theatres and clubs throughout the UK and abroad, with tours in Germany, Holland, Denmark, France, USA and the Canary Islands.

A Black Country Night Out starts at 8pm and tickets are £14, while the Pete Allen Jazz Band plays on Saturday at 8pm - tickets for which are £12.
