THE July 7 meeting began sadly when members observed two minutes silence for the victims of the London bombings.

The 43rd AGM was held and interesting reports of the Circle's activities were read and the committee was re-elected en bloc, with the exception of Jean Thompson who has retired after many years of loyal service. Linda Robins agreed to join the committee.

Members were thanked for providing items for the Circle's successful stall at the Alexandra Hospital Fete. On a beautiful evening on July 14, members enjoyed a visit to Stonehouse Cottage Garden, near Kidderminster.

Thanks to Ann James for the arrangements.

Red, White and Blue dominated at the superb Victory street party on July 21; the tables were laid with delicious food. News items recorded during the war were read and a display of members' wartime relics brought back memories. A delightful programme of nostalgic love songs from the forties was presented by the Golden Singers.

Congratulations were extended to Angela Stearn who was presented with an attractive picture in recognition of her recent golfing success. An evening walkabout round Alcester and a most enjoyable visit to Gloucester Cathedral Flower Festival completed a busy July programme.

Following the summer recess meetings resume on alternate Thursdays commencing on September 8 in the small hall at Headless Cross Methodist Church.
