I FEEL compelled to write after reading the front page report on the Alexandra Hospital (Advertiser, August 3).

I was recently hospitalised and following prompt and excellent care of my initial difficulty, spent 10 days on a ward under observation.

I can only praise and commend the staff. At all times hygiene procedures were followed and the standard of cleaning was very high.

Notices are clearly displayed to both patients and visitors and from my observations, most visitors are using the alcohol hand rubs as they enter and leave the wards.

Of course, MRSA continues to be a concern but we need to bear in mind some patients arrive at hospital already carrying the infection.
