Asda telling off
SUPERMARKET giant Tesco claimed a victory over Asda as its objections to the Asda's adverts were upheld.
Tesco objected to press adverts and a TV commercial which claimed Asda was "officially Britain's lowest priced supermarket" based on the findings of an independent survey by trade magazine The Grocer.
Smuggling loss
A FIFTH of corner shops have considered closing because of sales lost due to tobacco smuggling, according to a survey just out.
One third of the 890 corner shop owners questioned said they were "aware" of fake cigarettes in their area. More than 80 per cent of the retailers questioned said smuggling had decreased their tobacco sales.
New Aga range
SOLIHULL-based Aga snapped up a luxury London kitchenware group in a £1.4m cash deal.
Divertimenti sells more than 5,000 products, including Le Creuset cookware, and has two London stores and a mail order and online business.
Pizza Hut fined
RESTAURANT giant Pizza Hut was ordered to pay more than £13,000 in fines and costs after magistrates heard of "grease, dirt and food debris" in one of its high-profile outlets.
Leeds Magistrates Court was told environmental health officers found dirty walls, floors and ceilings in the Pizza Hut restaurant on Briggate, in Leeds city centre in July last year.
