MARGARET Green has an eye for a bargain and is always looking out for special deals and two-for-one offers.

But the 46-year-old's bargain hunting is all in aid of raffles, bingo prizes and tombola stalls.

Her fund-raising efforts are so remarkable that she has been nominated for our Pride in Worcestershire feature by the members of the Hamptons Bingo Club, at Ombersley.

"I started going there as a member and then took it on as an organiser about 10 years ago," said Mrs Green, who lives at Hadley.

"The money we make usually goes to the Acorns Children's Hospice, around £6,000 so far, but the last three bingo sessions raised £125 for St Richard's Hospice, £50 for Ombersley Surgery and £120 for the British Heart Foundation."

She has also raised money for the County Air Ambulance and on behalf of Ombersley Guides, Brownies and Young Farmers' Club and Fernhill Heath Village Hall. Her husband, son and daughter, who are in the YFC, help her by manning a Santa sledge at Christmas and helping to organise an August Bank Holiday gala in Ombersley, which has raised £5,700 for Acorns in the last two years.

Her employers, Wilkinson's, of Droitwich, also help by giving toys, gifts and ornaments for her Christmas tombola in Fernhill Heath Village Hall. "It takes a year to save all the stuff for the big tombola at the gala," she added.
