RESIDENTS of a Spa housing estate need never be bored again with a jam-packed activity schedule at their lovingly refurbished community centre throughout the week.

Over the past year, passionate fundraisers from the Westlands estate have managed to scrape together the cash to have work done to improve the Farmer's Way centre and last week the Advertiser reported the donation of a £3,500 grant from Wychavon District Council.

The money will be used to refit the Westlands Community Centre's heating system and now the place is buzzing with happy residents taking part in the range of fun on offer.

On the first, third and fourth Monday of the month a free youth club is offered for all 11-16-year-olds at the centre from 7-9pm.

Karate sessions, which are open to all, also take place between 6.30 and 8.30pm on the second Monday of the month and the first two lessons are free.

On Tuesdays, from 10.30am-12.30pm the over 55s club meets for a chat and a cup of tea. While on Tuesday afternoons the centre is filled with the sound of giggling children at the children's boxing, keep fit, wrestling and kids' club.

Judo classes entertain the masses on Thursday nights from 6.30-8.30pm for the small fee of £1.

A bingo session for over 18-year-olds rounds off the week, with eyes down at 7.30pm.

The Westlands Community Association, which runs the centre, is also looking for new members.

Membership costs £1 per year and the association is looking for suggestions of new events and clubs, which could be supported.

The hall is available from £10 per hour.

Tradesmen who can offer a helping hand sprucing up the centre are also needed.

Anyone wishing to join or with ideas for events can call Keith Hobson, the centre's caretaker, on 01905 827344.
