SCHOOL dinners are now the popular choice at a Rednal school after a new hall was built.

A new dining hall extension has been added to Colmers Farm School, Leybrook Road, which means hungry youngsters from both the infant and junior schools can enjoy meals made on the site.

Previously the children had to walk across the play area in all weather to get to the old hall, which only served food that had been delivered and kept warm.

The new building, which has been financed by Birmingham City Council, was constructed over the last nine months.

Since the new hall opened school dinners have become popular amongst the children.

Bev Archer, head of the infant school, said: "We desperately needed a new building. It is beautiful and modern and looks really nice. It has made a huge difference and pupils wanting school meals have increased. The old lunch hall will now be demolished, this is a great asset for the future," she added.
