A KIND-HEARTED group of volunteers had the wind in their sails as they raised cash for charity.

Members of the Upton Warren Sailing Club took to the waters for 12 hours after being sponsored by family and friends.

The sailors navigated a set course across the water in aid of the Royal National Lifeboat Institute (RNLI).

John Bowen, a member of the sailing club, said: "The event was highly successful and enjoyed by all."

It is hoped that the daylong challenge, which takes place every two years, will raise around £2,000 to add to the grand total of £10,000 already donated to the RNLI by the club.
