YOUR front page article on Monday, August 8 commenting on Blessed Edward Oldcorne's campaign to have a sixth form and the promised LSC Review did not tell the full story.

Each year, about 100 students join Worcester Sixth Form College from Blessed Edward Oldcorne, about 10-15 per cent of our admissions.

We have surveyed these students in the past and a tiny proportion have said they would have preferred a sixth form education at their school.

When students experience the advantages of a sixth form college education they soon realise which is the best decision. Worcester Sixth Form College has more than 1,200 A level students and getting on for 300 A-level classes in which they are taught. Our A-level pass rates, 99.2 per cent in 2004, value-added scores and student course ratings are all excellent.

A national survey recently placed us in the top four per cent of schools and colleges for overall performance.

It is extremely unlikely that any 11-16 school could match the choice, quality and achievement we offer and the depth of expertise and experience of our staff.

Students should not be misled into thinking they would do as well in a small school sixth form as they do at a sixth form college.
