CHAIRMAN Dave West is confident that new manager Tom Goss is building a team for the future at Droitwich Spa.

Spa are set for a daunting start to the Midland Combination Division Two away at champions University of Birmingham on Saturday (2.45pm kick off).

The chairman believes that Spa, who missed out on promotion by a point last season, will be stronger after going through a rebuilding period under new manager Goss - who took over from Kevin Blaber in the summer.

West said: "We are going for top four, but this is a rebuilding year for us.

"Tom's done a really good job and the lads are looking in good shape."

An under-strength Droitwich squad was beaten 3-1 by Bromyard on Sunday.

Spa could only bring 11 players because of injuries, but took the lead through emergency striker Nick White.

However as Spa tired Bromyard scored three goals in the final 15 minutes.

lDroitwich's reserves take on Coventry Sphinx's second string at home on Saturday (2.45pm start).
