AN Alzheimer's patient who featured on the front page of the Worcester News on Tuesday, June 7, under the headline 'They sent mum home to die' has passed away.
Mavis Ratcliffe, aged 78, was sent home by Worcestershire Royal Hospital after doctors said she was too ill to undergo a hip operation.
Her daughter, Jane Jennings, of Hever Avenue, Warndon Villages, who had criticised the care her mother received at the Royal, said she died 'very peacefully' last week.
"We were all there with her and although it's very sad, it was a happy relief for mum," said Mrs Jennings.
She said that specialists from the Royal came to assess her mother the day after the article appeared in the newspaper.
Mrs Jennings praised the carers at Morton House Nursing Home, in Fernhill Heath, and St Richard's Hospice, Rose Hill, Worcester.
Mrs Ratcliffe's funeral will be held at Stourbridge Crematorium on a date to be arranged this week.
