OPERA fans are set for a treat in Tardebigge on Sunday, when one of the world's best young tenors performs.

Kennedy, who scooped the Rosenblatt Song prize in Cardiff in June, will perform Songs of Eternity and Sorrow at Tardebigge church (3pm start).

The show, which is arranged by Worcester musician Graham Lloyd, is based on Bromsgrove poet A E Housman's powerful body of work.

Also in the programme are Samuel Barber's Despite and Still, Judith Weir's Scotch Minstrelsy and folksongs by Percy Grainger and Benjamin Britten.

Kennedy (below), now clearly acknowledged as one of the world's finest young tenors, is coming to the end of his time at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, where he has appeared in several productions.

A part of his prize is to be in the BBC Young Artists Programme and will be heard regularly on BBC Radio 3.

Tickets for the show cost £10.50, while the unemployed and students can get in for £3.
