YOUNG star Hannah Watts celebrated once again after becoming British champion.

The 10-year-old Worcester girl struck gold at the British Biathlon Championships, held in Salford Quays, Greater Manchester.

Watts, a pupil at Our Lady Queen of Peace Primary School, took first in the under 10 girls' event, comprising a 500-metre run, 50m swim and a further 500m run.

She will now represent Great Britain in the World Championships at Monaco next month.

Her elder brother Matt, 14, just missed out on World Championship selection after finishing seventh in the under 14 boys event in Salford, which involved a 500m run, 100m swim and 500m run.

Their mother, Sue Watts, said: "Matt was disappointed because the top six qualify for Monaco and the boy that took sixth beat Matt by less than a second. Hannah did really well. She can't wait for the World Championships."

Both siblings are members of Worcester Athletic Club and Worcester Swimming Club.

They recently took a clutch of medals at the Biathe Worlds Series in Holland and Weymouth. Their next event takes place at Sandwell, near Birmingham, on Friday.
