L SPITERI (Worcester News, Monday, August 15) is obviously unaware that for 30 years, the European Community has successfully kept Britain out of the ring, preventing it entry to even begin to fight her corner.
It is a closed shop to Britain and the laughing stock of the EU in always trying to "be at the heart of Europe" not knowing that the EU hasn't got a heart.
The United Kingdom has given almost everything she had to the EU. The EU only has to dream up some sort of regulation or directive and the United Kingdom has to meekly obey, in fact, under this government it runs to obey. For now.
I say for now because the people are getting restless in being the underdog all the time. They are fed up of seeing all the big contracts going to the Continent of Europe while our men and women are losing jobs. Thousands will be put out of work through the Ports Directive alone. I can't wait until we have broken free of the European Union.
I wouldn't like to be in any politician's shoes when that time comes.
