FURTHER to Alan Cure's unwarranted attack against me in his letter (Saturday, August 13) I did not dispute in my earlier letter that Britain had played a leading roll in helping to take modern civilisation to many countries.

The very serious downside to Britain's work for humanity was our aiding the "City" of London to spread their immoral banking system across the world. This now controls elected governments and has us all shackled with a horrendous artificial interest-bearing debt.

E WALTER CARR,

Malvern.
