A WORKING party has been set up to consider the re-structuring of league rugby in the Midlands West area from the start of next season.

The working party will be chaired by Paul Kaminski, chairman of the Midlands Leagues Organising Committee, and will also include Roger Rees (North Midlands), Ray Roberts (Warwickshire) and Sid Goodman (Staffordshire) to examine a major overhaul of leagues at levels nine and ten in the pyramid structure involving clubs in North Midlands, Staffordshire and Warwickshire.

The working party has been set up following recommendations from a RFC competitions appeal panel earlier in the summer when they rejected an appeal by Kings Norton to be moved from North Midlands South One into the newly-formed Midlands Five West (North) league.

Attempts to restructure the leagues for the coming season by moving a club from Warw-ickshire into North Midlands South One to increase that league from eight to nine clubs were rejected.

A proposal for each club in North Midlands South One to play each other three times rather than two in the coming season was also thrown out after it failed to attract the unanimous support of the clubs involved.

The decision means that North Midlands South One will continue as an eight-club league for the forthcoming season with clubs playing each other twice.

The first meeting of the review working party will be on Wednesday, September 14 and all clubs are invited to submit their views and comments on re-structuring to the nominated members in advance of the meeting.

Recommendations from the working party will be presented to a meeting of the MLOC in November.

Any draft proposal will then be submitted to affected clubs for comment and the proposed new structure will be published early in the new year.

Pershore have been handed a trip to Aston OEs in the first round of this season's Power-gen Intermediate Cup.

The match is scheduled to take place on Saturday, September 17.
