DROITWICH Spa students were left reflecting on the past two years and what the future now holds after getting their A-Level results.SUCCESS STORIES: Tom Williams, Rebecca Harris and Richard Edghill all did well in their A-Levels.

Pupils at Droitwich Spa High School, in Briar Mill, gathered with friends and called loved ones to share their eagerly awaited news last Thursday.

Most were left pleased with their results as the prospect of that dream job or university placement edged closer.

Ninety-three per cent of students at the high school gained a pass rate, with 41 per cent managing to reach a point score equivalent to three A-Levels at grade A.

Pupils and teachers were also celebrating after news that 35.5 per cent of the candidates had managed at least one A grade.

Headteacher Allan Foulds said: "I am absolutely delighted with what are yet again outstanding results for the school. The pass rate is up and the overall points score per student reflects the enormous amount of hard work from students and commitment of staff. The proportion of students achieving top grades is higher than ever.

"The excellence of the results means that our students can look forward to securing university places and continue to move from strength to strength."

Eighteen-year-old Rebecca Harris was left delighted after gaining two A's and one B in French, English literature and drama and theatre studies.

She said: "I am really pleased with how I have done, it is very exciting and I managed to get my university placement." She now plans to study at York University.

Another success story saw Tom Williams achieve an outstanding four A-grades. He studied maths, economics, English literature and general studies and plans to get a scholarship with an accountancy firm.

Less confident student Richard Edghill said: "I had convinced myself I was going to fail."

However, he managed an impressive three A-grades in maths, economics, and geography and will now go on to study economics at Bath University.
