THERE were smiles all round when delighted pupils discovered they had made the grade last Thursday.

Students at South Bromsgrove High School gathered in anticipation to discover if their hard work had paid off.

Cara Simpson gained an A, B and C and is now getting ready for a gap year to Peru with her friend Claire Naughton, who scooped an A and three Bs. After Claire's time off she is going to study social policy at Bristol.

Leeds University is the destination for Lucie Faulkner who will be studying philosophy after she gained As and Bs in her results.

Alex Smith will be studying business accounting and finance at Newcastle now he has got his three As and a B. He said he was pleased with his results and that they were what he had expected.

Matt Jackson, scooped two As and two Bs and is now destined for Birmingham where he will be studying law.

Lancaster is the destination for Harry Marshall who gained two As and two Bs. He will now study business.

Brainy Ben Thomas was thrilled with his four straight As.

"I was really hoping I would do well and am really pleased with the results," he said.

He is now going to Bristol is study chemistry.
