BARNT Green Spartak made a comfortable start to the Midland Combination Premier Division Saturday.

The promotion hopefuls had new signings Emad Bouanane and Simeon Smith on target to brush aside Copsewood, which was formerly called Marconi.

Former Paris St Germain player Bouanane opened the scoring in the 35th minute.

Smith then wrapped up a regulation win with a goal 15 minutes from time.

Manager GJ Singh said: "I was happy when we scored the second goal, but we had chances to finish them off earlier."

Spartak take on Bridgnorth on Saturday, August 27 (2.45pm kick off) and Massey Ferguson on Monday, August 29 at home (7.45pm kick off).

Singh is expecting his strong squad to cope with the demands of two games in three days.

He said: "Our first three games are all home matches so I expect us to take all nine points. I have a lot of players at my disposal so the squad can cope with a lot of games."

l Spartak's reserves made a fine start to the Midland Combination Division Three by defeating Wellesbourne 4-0. Nathan Singh bagged a hat trick, while Marvin Edinburgh scored to see off Wellesbourne.
