PERSHORE returned to winning ways in emphatic style against Moseley Ash-field at The Bottoms last Saturday.

Skipper Stephen Cooper invited the visitors to bat and his bowlers gave him immediate success with the visitors reeling at 20-3. However, Guy Shears (36), with the help of the fortunate Phil Jeffries (35), staged a mini rescue act and managed to push the Moseley score into three figures.

Tight bowling by the pace attack of Johnson, Bales, Dal-ley and Oxley kept a tight stranglehold on the scoring rate which meant the visitors were never able to gain the upper hand and two wickets in an over by Oxley and a further three from Powles saw Mose-ley dismissed for 156.

Pershore again changed their batting order and this time they may have found the right formula with Cooper opening the batting with the vastly experienced Mark Stevens and a solid start saw the pair put on 36.

When Cooper was dismissed, Stevens was joined by Sam Howell and they showed little respect for the visiting attack in adding 130 in 26 overs, enabling Pershore to run out easy winners by nine wickets with 22 overs to spare and gain 20 valuable points.

Stevens finished on 78 not out with the help of 13 boundaries receiving good support from Howell who reached 56 - an innings containing seven fours and one six.

An inexperienced side lost to Old Elizabethans by 77 runs the following afternoon in the Worcestershire Clubs League.

An undefeated century from Simon Macey helped the home side reach a daunting 257-7 despite Sam Howell claiming four cheap wickets in an excellent eight-over stint.

Powles and Ben Bales then gave Pershore a fine start with an opening stand worth 62 but six wickets then tumbled for the addition of 31 runs before Owen Harrison's 42 gave the reply some respectability as the chase petered out on 180.
