Chaddesley Corbett 159 all out Ombersley 163-5

Ombersley win by five wickets

OMBERSLEY strengthened their grip at the top of the Worcester League Division One on Saturday with a victory over their derby rivals.

Victory over struggling Corbett ensured they stretched their lead over Kington (who drew with Romsley) to eight points.

Defeat meant that Chaddesley are still not totally safe from the relegation zone.

The seventh placed side still have a mathematical chance of falling into the relegation zone with four games to go, as they lead second from bottom Stourbridge by 50 points.

On Saturday Ombersley were not troubled by in-form Corbett.

Former captain Kevin Truswell top scored with 42 runs as Corbett were dismissed for 159.

All rounder Duncan Catterall was in good form with the ball - taking 5-41.

Paul Burdon then hit 40 runs as Ombersley reached 163-5.

The leaders face two games, which could make or break their title hopes over the Bank Holiday weekend.

On Saturday, August 27, Ombersley entertain their main rivals for the title Kington.

They then take on fifth placed side Romsley and Hunnington at home on Monday, August 29.

Chaddesley Corbett go to Alvechurch and Hopwood on Saturday, before taking on Brockhampton at home on Monday (all matches 1pm start).
