A STAR-studded production of the Henry James' classic Daisy Miller receives its world premiere at Malvern's Festival Theatre on Tuesday.
Scarlett Johnson, better known as Vicki Fowler from BBC soap EastEnders, takes on the title role of Daisy, a beautiful yet flighty 18-year-old.
Described as a "classic tale of unrequited love" the story begins when young American writer Frederick Winterbourne meets Daisy on the shore of Lake Geneva.
A spokesperson explains: "The writer pursues her to Rome where her outspoken behaviour shocks everyone.
"Against the advice of his elders, he continues to defend her against their condemnation. The story drives forward to a tragedy that will haunt him for evermore."
The lavish new production also stars Jean Boht as Winterbourne's haughty aunt, Sandra Dickinson as Daisy easy-going mother, together with Shirley Anne Field, Richard Grieve and Craig Giovanelli.
The production plays at Malvern from August 30-September 3.
Tickets, priced £18-24, are available from www.malvern-theatres.co.uk or the box office on 01684 892277.
Performances are at 8pm with Wednesday and Saturday matinees at 2.30pm.
