GEORGE Daniels, James French and Robert Stanton, Birchfield Road, Headless Cross, were summoned for playing "pitch and toss", on August 6th.
Police constable White saw the defendants gambling on the footpath leading from Highfield Road, Headless Cross.
He watched them for several minutes, and told defendants he should report them.
Superintendent Hayes said the case was brought forward for the purpose of trying to put a stop to what had become an intolerable nuisance on Sundays.
Several respectable inhabitants had made complaints to him about the matter.
Defendants were fined 1s, and the costs 5s 6d.
