AMONG the six women from various parts of Worcestershire who took part in the district round of Mr Therm's "Bride of the Year" competition, at Worcestershire last Thursday, was Mrs Mary Clark, of Highfield Avenue, Headless Cross.

The object of the competition, which is countrywide, is to stimulate an interest in gas cooking among young housewives, and also to find the wives in England who possess the best knowledge of housewifery.

Each competitor was asked various questions concerning modern everyday housekeeping, cooking, the laundry and also what part their husbands play in the running of their home.

They had to take with them a home made cherry cake.

Mrs Clark was married six months ago and was previously Miss Vale, of Peakman Street.
