THERE was instant action once the Indicator got its teeth into the problem of an ash tree which was making a widow's life a misery.
Mrs Annie Burrows told us that the tree was planted outside her flat six years ago and had since grown tall enough to completely block the view from her lounge window.
Mrs Burrows, 76, also said the tree blocked out the light and that her efforts to persuade the development corporation to remove it had drawn a blank.
Then the Indicator took up the case for Mrs Burrows, of Chiltern House, Haseley Close, Matchborough, and the timetable of events went like this:
Friday, 8.30am: The Indicator, with Mrs Burrow's story on the front page, goes on sale.
Friday, 8.31am: Timber! The tree gets the chop.
A relieved Mrs Burrows contacted the Indicator to say: "I have battled for three tears get the tree moved without any success whatsoever.
"I can't tell you how happy this one small event has made me. At last I have a clear view from my front room."
