SCHOOLS in Alcester have the chance of extra funding towards safe travel schemes for their pupils.
The government has extended its funding to Warwickshire County Council, under the Travelling to School Project, which will fund travel plans for up to 32 county schools.
Last year 13 schools shared more than £58,000 on projects including cycle storage areas, lockers and parent waiting shelters.
Warwickshire county councillor Martin Healey, who is responsible for environmental issues, said: "I'm really pleased that Warwickshire County Council is being rewarded for its efforts in encouraging sustainable travel to school. With this extra funding more schools will be able to be supported in developing sustainable travel plans and the journey to school will become easier, safer and cleaner."
