JULY saw the Good Neighbours meeting when members of Naunton Beauchamp, Peopleton, Crabbs Cross and Hunt End, Inkberrow and Bentley Pauncefoot attended.

Miriam was praised for her staging of the open evening and Denise thanked all the exhibitors. Everyone enjoyed looking at the photographs.

Rosemary Roberts had attended the WI AGM at the Albert Hall where the resolutions had been passed with massive majorities. Speakers had included Jane Fonda and Bill Bryson.

Reports included the outing to the lavender fields at Broadway, which included a talk and supper. Margaret said members had enjoyed their visit to Oak Apple WI for a quiz followed by strawberries and cream.

Gill reported on the WRWI science walk from Eckington along the river followed by supper supplied by Defford WI. Harry Green and Bert Reed had led the walk.

The speakers were the Tudor Maydes.

They took members back to the 16th century in the guise of a servant and a merchant's wife. They told about status, food, clothes and much more.

Jenny Simpson gave the vote of thanks and Rosemary Roberts and Marion Collins won the raffle.

In August, the garden meeting was held at Jenny Simpson's home. Numbers were taken for the picnic walk, WI Christmas cards and the December visit to the theatre to see Scrooge the Musical.

The evening was warm enough to sit outside and members enjoyed several quizzes arranged by Miriam before supper. Raffle prizes went to Jackie Giles, Delice Bayliss, Irene Dalton and Betty Thomas. Proceeds went to Acorn Hospice.

At the next meeting on September 14 at 7.30pm at the village hall, the speaker's subject will be oriental art. Visitors welcome.
