THE exquisite surroundings of Ragley Hall, near Alcester, will be the setting for the first ever "Cancer Research UK 10" run next month.

It is one of just 23 venues across the country staging a unique series of 10km runs, supported by Tesco, giving participants exclusive access to the grounds of some of the noblest homes in the land.

Up to 1,000 runners are expected to take part, raising an estimated £55,000.

Participants will start the 10km route at 11am on September 25, running past the magnificent hall and gardens and across the parkland with some challenging hills and through the estate woods.

The course is multi-terrain, on path, grassland and forest track, and gives participants rolling views of landscape designed by 'Capability' Brown.

It costs £17.50 to enter and participants, who must be over 15, receive a specially designed Cancer Research UK 10 T-shirt to run in, plus a medal when they finish.

Participants are also asked to raise sponsorship money to support Cancer Research UK's vital work.

Entry to the grounds for the event is free to Cancer Research UK 10 participants and supporters.
