A LAKESIDE mum, whose baby daughter won her battle against meningitis, is donning her trainers and taking to the streets to raise money for other sufferers.
Ella Checkett, of Prospect Road South, will be running the Hydroactive Challenge's 5k run with friend Louise Duggins, in aid of the Meningitis Research Fund.
Miss Checkett's 15-month-old daughter Cara was fighting for her life earlier this year after contracting the illness.
Little Cara has since made a full recovery but Miss Checkett is ploughing her efforts into raising money for the Meningitis Research Fund.
She has also organised a fundraising fun day at St Bede's School in Holloway Lane tomorrow from noon-4pm.
A number of Redditch businesses have offered raffle prizes, among them a £600 satellite navigation system from Halfords.
Anyone interested in donating can call 07708 337190.
