A 19-YEAR-old woman was brutally punched in the face as she walked past the Palace Theatre in Redditch town centre.

Police are appealing for information following the assault on Monday, August 22, between 6.15-6.30pm.

The teenager was walking past the Alcester Street theatre when a girl, who was with a large group walking in the opposite direction, walked up to her and punched her in the face.

The victim suffered minor injuries.

The offender was white and aged 15 or 16.

She was 5ft 6ins tall, of medium build with blonde curly tied-back hair and wore a sky blue tracksuit.

Pc Chris Bradley from Redditch police said: "Our investigation into this incident is continuing and as well as studying CCTV evidence, we are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

"We know the area was busy at the time and it may well be that someone recalls seeing the group of ten people, both male and female, heading towards the town centre."

He added: "We welcome any information to help forward our enquiries and to help identify the female responsible."
