JOBS suitable for people of all ages and abilities will be available next Thursday at an ever-popular event in Worcester.

It is the fifth year the Worcester News has run its Jobs and Careers Fair in the city and the demand for it means this is the second such affair this year - the first time it has been biannual.

An estimated 2,000 people are expected to attend and it has attracted exhibitors ranging from health and recruitment agencies to the Armed Forces and the police.

The event has been organised in association with Jobcentre Plus and is being sponsored by recruitment firm Access2. It is aimed at people of all ages looking for their first job or just a change.

"We think it has the best mix of employers for an event like this in Worcestershire," said Sandra Sandon, event co-ordinator for the Worcester News.

"It is always highly popular and we take care to make sure we have got what people want.

"In fact, it is because it is so successful, that we have decided on this second fair of 2005.

"We always have a good cross-section of people. In March, for the last fair, we surveyed everyone going in and we had people aged from 16 to 70.

"Job-seeking can be a difficult and often stressful task, and it is much better to be able to look at a range of vacancies under one roof. And, like I said, we do our best to make sure there is something for everyone."

More than 2,000 pamphlets advertising the fair have been distributed to libraries, job centres, and tourist information centres in Worcester and surrounding towns.

These give advice on preparing CVs and as well as detailing the exhibitors and where they will be on the day.

The fair takes place in the Guildhall, from 10am-4pm on Thursday, September 8.
