THERE'S just something so unbelievably funny about many werewolf films - except American Werewolf in London which was, of course, a work of genius. Try as I might, I generally just cant take the hairy critters seriously.

The ones in this film resemble men at a fancy dress party dressed as grizzly bears rather than terrifying, slavering creatures of the night.

A werewolf is on the loose in Los Angeles and attacks a brother and sister (Christina Ricci and Jason Eisenberg), who are then cursed.

They realise, after extensive research which involves flicking through comic books, that they have to kill the head werewolf to remove the curse from them. Similar to the head vampire theory in Lost Boys but far less entertaining.

People expecting an orgy of bloody scenes in Cursed will be bitterly disappointed. The werewolves/men in grizzly bear outfits seem to be more enamoured of the art of jujitsu than going for the jugular. They spend their whole time kicking and throwing people and don't make the most of what could be a potentially bloody moments.

This film isn't bad but it just isn't scary.
