FLYFORD Flavell's cricketers pulled off an amazing success at Monday's annual tournament at Colwall.

Playing under the name of Whittington and captained by Paul Clarke, the village cricketers recorded a brace of convincing wins to book a place in the final against Hereford Nomads.

Flyford rattled up 159-9 off their 20 overs with Tom Green top scoring with 42 not out and, when Hereford slumped to 36-3 a famous victory was there for the taking.

Wickets continued to fall regularly leaving the chasers to score 24 off the last four overs with three wickets remaining.

It was left to Lachlan McKenzie to administer the final act by claiming the last two wickets to overcome a team in search of an eighth straight win at the tournament.

Monday's win capped a great weekend after Flyford had registered their highest ever total against touring side Turl.

Rich Leech smashed 67 but to was Mark Walker who took the batting honours when scoring his third century of the season to pass 1,000 runs.

Flyford were brought down to earth the next day when they were dismissed for 111 in response to Hagley's record total of 300-1.
