I AM seeking the help of Advertiser/Messenger readers.
I'm in the first year of a PhD at the University of Lancaster and I 'm researching the lives of gays and lesbians in the Armed Forces during the Second World War.
I desperately need to interview any gay and lesbian veterans who took part in the conflict between 1939 and 1945. They must have been in the Army, Navy or the Air Force.
The female equivalents of these were the Auxiliary Territorial Service, the Women's Auxiliary Air Force and the Women's Royal Naval Service.
Please help if you can, especially if you know of someone who took part in the war, or someone who left their wartime memories behind.
I need to record their stories before they are lost forever. Confidentiality is assured.
Please contact Emma Vickers, Department of History, Furness College, University of Lancaster, Lancaster, LA1 4YG or e-mail e.vickers@lancaster.ac.uk.
