Droitwich Spa 192-9 Bewdley 195-6

Droitwich lost by four wickets

INCONSISTENT Droitwich were unable to build on last week's victory over Astwood Bank as they went down by high-flying Bewdley on Saturday.

Droitwich never recovered from a disastrous start, which saw them reduced to 6-2.

Captain Steve Walsh lost the toss and saw his side put into bat by Bewdley.

Spa were put under pressure immediately and lost openers Paul Bryan and Gary Cotterill cheaply.

Jerome Connor (30) and Josh Staines (70) launched Droiwich's fightback.

However, the partnership ended when Connor was caught off Boult's delivery.

Walsh though steadied the order when he and Staines forged a 70 run partnership, before the captain was dismissed on 35.

Late runs by Richard Ferley and Dave Scott-Walker ensured Spa reached a respectable 193-9.

Spa starting strongly, with Boult caught by Scott-Walker, but a third wicket stand guided their opponents to 140-2 by the 35th over.

Mike Rogers (4-86) was Spa's main threat with the ball and despite his best efforts Coombes (78) top scored for Bewdley as they reached 195-6.
