WORCESTER Men's Veteran's track and field athletic team retained the Midlands South league title for the 13th time in 14 years following a convincing display at the fourth and final meeting of the season at Tipton Harriers track.

In the ladies' competition, Worcester finished in fourth place with 94 points, behind Bromsgrove & Redditch and Birchfield Harriers, who tied for first place on 116 points.

In the 19 events contested, Worcester men's team provided no fewer than 11 individual winners and four runners-up, running out convincing team champions with 154 points to Birchfield Harriers' 119 points.

Bromsgrove & Redditch were in third place on 86 points.

The performance gives the club a confidence boost leading into the Midlands Cup final which is staged on their home track at Nunnery Wood Sports Centre on Saturday.

In last year's final at Mansfield, Worcester missed out on regaining the title they won for the first time in 2002 by a mere four-point margin to Rugby & Northampton AC after 25 events.

With a home-track advantage, Worcester will be going all out to reclaim the prestigious Midlands title.

Other clubs contesting the final include Charnwood Athletics Club, Market Harborough, Sparkhill, Stoke and Royal Sutton Coldfield AC.

Events get underway at 10.30am with the hammer and the first track event commencing at 11.30am.
