OLD Elizabethans registered their second Division Two win in two days with a 113-run defeat of Solihull Blossomfield.

James Brinkley made a century as OEs posted 206 before dismissing their visitors for just 93.

Having lost the toss, OEs batted first and lost in-form Simon Macey (17), Jamie Boyle and Allan Brudar to slump to 36-3.

A 32-run partnership between skipper Sean Cairney and Brinkley steadied the ship.

Brinkley reached his 50 and was joined by David Phillips (25) and the pair moved the score on to 182-7.

Brinkley's well-deserved century saw him make the first 50 from 93 balls and the second 50 from only 37. His 101 included nine fours and two sixes.

Having been 68-5 after 23 overs, OEs finished on 206.

Brinkley (3-6) bowled with pace in reply but the first success saw Stuart Tipper score a direct hit to run out the dangerous Patel.

Trapped

Only eleven runs later Jamie Alford (1-21) caught and bowled Neale. Stuart Phillips (2-29) was introduced and soon trapped two batsmen lbw.

Matt Sprague (3-31) worked in tandem with Brinkley to tear the heart out of the Solihull innings.

Wickets fell at regular intervals, with Solihull losing their last five for 18 runs.

OEs Seconds won the reverse fixture by 52 runs.

James Bull was the star, remaining unbeaten on 85, including 15 boundaries.

With the score on 88-7, a first defeat in 18 games looked likely before Bull added 35 for the ninth wicket with Ed Smith and then 43 with Chris Shewring (17) to post 166-9.

Chris Avery (56) was the mainstay of the Solihull innings but he received little support.

Andy Stephens (4-35), Ed Smith (2-26) and Chris Pearman (2-12) were the main OEs wicket takers as Solihull were all out for 114.

Pershore recorded a five-wicket victory over Redditch in Division Three. After winning the toss, skipper Stephen Cooper invited the visitors to bat. Redditch found runs hard to get and were only able to reach 50 by the 30th over.

David Powles took 5-36, aided by three Martin Johnson wickets, as the visitors registered a disappointing total of 110-9.

In their reply, Pershore raced to 40-1, but the loss of three quick wickets gave the visitors hope of an unexpected victory. David White (32no) and Lee Wilks (25) added 63 and, although they had some nervous moments, the stand was sufficient to see Pershore home with 19 overs to spare.

Pershore Seconds were involved in an exciting tied match with Studley in the reverse match.

Pershore lost the toss, batted first and amassed an impressive 259-6, thanks to a fine innings from Rob Handley (91), supported by Phil Taylor (47).

The hosts kept up with the required rate in reply.

However, they failed to achieve the one run required for victory from the final seven balls when Trevor Ridings took a catch at mid-wicket to leave the scores tied.

Pershore skipper Steve Meers took three wickets and Holly Penwarden claimed two.
