Loughborough 1, Littleton 3

A ROUND trip of 140 miles proved worthwhile as Littleton collected their first points of the new Midland Combination campaign last Saturday.

The visitors dominated throughout but needed a splendid finish from Simon Brain six minutes from time to seal the win.

Brain and Joe Wright went closest to breaking the deadlock before Loughborough took a surprise lead when a mishit back pass left goalkeeper Mickey Harris stranded.

The sides were level before the break, though, when Robbie Harris expertly volleyed home following a free-kick from Perry Beddoes.

The second half was a similar story with Brain supplying Wright with a fine pass but the striker shot narrowly wide.

It was Littleton's greater fitness that proved crucial in the final count and Wright made it 2-1 with 12 minutes left on the watch when he latched on to a pass from Mark Gledhill.

Six minutes later, Brain's control and finish from a pass from Robbie Hands left Littleton comfortable winners and off the mark for the season.

However, two days later Littleton lost 2-1 to local rivals Archdales after Steve Brown had given the home side the lead.

There's an early start at Five Acres on Saturday when the first division clash with Stockingford kicks off at 11am.
