FROM autumnal Pershore to tropical India - audiences have the chance to dream of warmer climes in a show coming to town this month.

A group which comes from the lush southern Indian state, Samudra, is coming to the Number 8 arts centre as part of its first tour to bring its striking dance theatre to Britain.

The show, which aims to fuse ancient and modern styles, is inspired by the martial art Kalaripayuttu as well as south Indian classical Bharatanatyam and yoga.

It comes to Pershore as part of a special partnership with Sampad, the Birmingham-based south Asian arts agency and with Shindig, which is the Worcestershire scheme designed to bring top touring shows to rural community centres.

The show is on Friday, September 9, will see four dancers perform, along with two musicians, under the guidance of joint artistic directors Mahdu Gopinath and Vakkam Sajeev.

Tickets for Samudra cost £6.50 (£6 concessions) or £5 for children 16 and under.
