ORGANISERS of Worcester's biggest music event of the year have proclaimed it a huge success.

Party in the Park was held in the gardens of Bar Bamboo, on Worcester's Tybridge Street on Sunday and Monday, with nearly 20 acts playing across two stages.

Organisers estimate more than 1,500 people came along over the two days to watch a whole host of acts, including the Drifters, King Pleasure and the Biscuit Boys and local boys Medford.

The jazz act Kenny Ball And His Jazzmen kicked off the charity event on Sunday lunchtime with an entertaining set, with Blues Brothers tribute act Born In Chicago bringing the musical extravaganza to a close on Monday evening.

The two-day festival was organised by Bar Bamboo manager Steve Cass in conjunction with Bishop Perowne CE High School teacher Steve High and Drummond's Bar in New Street, Worcester.

Organisers have yet to work out how much the event raised, with the proceeds being split between various city charities. Mr Cass said he was delighted with how it had gone and the effort of all of those involved.

He added: "It was absolutely awesome in the end and everybody that left said it was one of the most fantastic events they'd been to.

"The Drifters were absolutely fantastic but I can't really pick a favourite one because I think every single one gave it their best shot - it was amazing.

"Hopefully, we can now build on it for next year."
