PEOPLE are being asked to comment on Worcestershire's new race equality plans at an open day next month.

The Race Equality Scheme was launched for consultation in June and describes how the county council will ensure it remains central to all policies over the next three years. Black and ethnic minority groups are particularly encouraged to attend the meeting at the Perryfield Centre, in Midland Road, Worcester on Wednesday, September 14.

As well as residents, Worcestershire County Council chief executive Rob Sykes, Jennie Bashforth, director of social services, and local councillors will be on hand.

Rukhsana Koser, the county council's corporate diversity manager, said: "We want as much feeback on the draft scheme as is possible.

"When we held a similar meeting at County Hall in March, we were asked to get around Worcestershire more, so that's exactly what we've done.

"While this meeting is being held in Worcester, any interested parties from Malvern Hills are more than welcome to attend."

More information on the scheme is available on www.worcestershire.gov.uk/equality and leaflets can be picked up at libraries and customer contact centres across the county.

Anyone wishing to attend, or needing some more information, should contact Rukhsana Koser on 01905 766938 by Friday, September 9.
