TRAVEL agents and money exchange centres have been warned to be vigilant after a man tried to trick staff.
On Saturday the man, who was with a young girl requested the conversion of £1,000 into American dollars at Midlands Co-op Travel in Worcester's High Street. He returned shortly afterwards and said that he wanted alternative currency.
A police spokesman said: "Fortunately, staff had been alerted by Thomas Cook staff who had earlier been approached in a similar manner. The man initially seemed very plausible, but as the transaction went on the member of staff rightly became suspicious and he left without loss to the company.
Anyone with information should contact Worcester Police on 08457 444888.
