WORCESTER Wolves Basketball Club are poised to make another key signing.

The unbeaten National League Division Two leaders are set to snap up Renaldo Edmondson, a 6ft 3in shooting guard formerly with Teesside.

Wolves are hoping to iron out a wrangle with his former club in order to complete the signing and make him eligible for Saturday's league game at Colchester.

Edmondson, aged 20, is a former Birmingham Bullets junior who joined Teesside after a year playing in the United States.

But he left the Division One leaders earlier this season and has has been training with Wolves for the past six weeks.

The club's Director of Operations Mick Donovan said: "Now that Keith Jarrett has gone back to the States, we have a spot available and he is very keen to join us.

"He is only 20, he is English and was a starting five player at Teesside and they are one of the top teams in Division One.

"We have submitted all the forms and Teesside didn't have a problem but now they say they are not happy about it -- they said they were unhappy with the way he left them.

"I have spoken to their owner and their secretary and the league now have to resolve it. We should have an answer from them tomorrow."

Wolves are keen to wrap up the matter as quickly as possible as they hope to have Edmondson available for their Patrons Cup semi-final with North-West London at University College Worcester on Saturday week.

Donovan added: "We would ideally like him to play a game before then so we hope to sign him in time for Saturday."

Wolves go into the Colchester match with eight wins out of eight in the league, and they are six points ahead of nearest rivals North-West London and Westminster.
